Eco clothing allows anyone to look great without causing harm to the planet or exploited laborers. Eco clothing is made of materials that are durable and make no negative environmental impact. The key to creating great eco clothing is using environmentally friendly fibers such as hemp and organic cotton. Standard cotton may be slightly cheaper but it requires a great deal of pesticides to grow. In fact cotton accounts for around half the pesticides used on Earth; this has a massive negative impact of the environment.
Eco clothing is hand made by adults who are well paid, safe and healthy. That means that eco clothing is never made by children or laborers in sweatshops, or pumped out en masse from factories by low paid workers.
Eco clothing has a reduced environmental impact because it lasts longer than standard clothing. Durable fibers such as hemp can last for many seasons and actually feel softer with age. This stops old clothes from piling up in landfills. It also forces designers to come up with elegant, classic designs that look great for years as opposed to throw-away fads that people quickly lose interest in.
Another important aspect of eco clothing is that it uses low impact dyes. Mass produced clothing often uses dyes that hurt the environment as well as running. This is a shame because for just a little extra fashion lovers can have beautifully dyed clothing without compromising their principals or their planet!
